Ren Fest

Ohio Renaissance Festival has been happening for 35 years.... longer than I have been alive.  I have never attended.  Until now!!

I went back to back weekends in September, experiencing the event for the first time.  Overwhelming was my initial impression.  Overwhelming with energy and excitement and things that looked fun and curious. So much to see and take in!

- Dust coating skin
- Tacky green hair dye rubbing off on hats and shirt
- Momentary glimpses of each person's personality in their unique outfits
- Clanging swords and armor
- Good mead and beer relaxing muscles and tongues
- Games drawing away attention
- Buskers and showmen vying for attention
- Thirst as the day goes on
- Energy from every direction
- Fire, whips, hawks, knives

Spring Photography Practice

Walked around to practice photography.

My observations include the following:

1) Buying a better camera didn't make me a better photographer (who could have guessed).

2) Street photography is scary.  I just ended up mostly with pictures of things.

3) Zoom and cropping are a street photographer's friend.

4) I am using RawTherapee as my photo editing software.  It is an open source software with way more functionality than I know how to use yet.  No subscription fees!
